Pacific Gas and Electric Company recently received the 2024 Enrichment Award from the Western Regional Minority Supplier Development Council (WRMSDC), an affiliate of NMSDC. In addition, the organization honored David Pell, who just retired as an expert consultant in Supply Chain Responsibility, with the 2024 Supplier Diversity Leader of the Year Award. These #awards were handed out at the Excellence in Supplier Diversity Awards event in #Oakland. A new report places Pacific Gas and Electric Company in top tier of Western #utilities for its #wildfirepreparedness and #prevention. The report by the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment looked at the increased risk posed by wildfires in 13 Western states and evaluated the wildfire plans for more than 40 utilities serving customers in those states. PG&E’s comprehensive #wildfiresafety plan, bolstered by continued #investments in #safety and technological #innovation, earned a spot among the most prepared utilities. PG&E’s Community Wildfire Safety Program relies on multiple layers of #protection to ensure the safety of our #customers and #communities. Juniors from #Oakland’s Skyline High School recently spent a day learning about a career at Pacific Gas and Electric Company. The 50 students visited the company’s Oakport facility near the Oakland Coliseum, met with graduates of the nationally-recognized #PowerPathway #training program, saw a bucket truck in action and met with coworkers at PG&E’s Oakland headquarters to discuss career opportunities and work on an #energy project. The day was part of Skyline’s 11th grade curriculum to provide #career exploration in real world settings. “PG&E invests in STEM education because our young people are tomorrow’s leaders and energy workers,” said PG&E Manager of Community Relations and Employee Engagement Alicia Bert. “Events like this help high school students get exposed to the thousands of career paths we have at PG&E,” said PowerPathway Principal Program Manager Justin Real. #STEM #stemeducation #career #careerplanning #careerdevelopment
