At NorthStar, we've had the privilege of partnering with the Yuba Water Agency, assisting in their crucial efforts to maintain numerous dams across their district. Our collaboration includes delivering professional surveying services on demand for prominent structures like New Bullards Bar Dam, Our House Dam, Log Cabin Dam, and Lake Francis Dam. Our services provided include GPS and terrestrial control surveys, topographic surveys, and boundary surveys. However, our work with the Yuba Water Agency initially began with high precision surveying for dam deflection and deformation monitoring. Beyond our main surveying tasks, we also assist in base mapping sediment removal for their impoundment dams, the design for the sediment pile and perform an “as built” design for the impoundment dams. These projects gave us the opportunity to collaborate with an exceptional client, contribute to the safety and integrity of vital infrastructures in the community, and work in a beautiful part of Northern California! From concept to reality, NorthStar has been a part of the Chicken Ranch Hotel Casino Resort project in Jamestown, CA. Scheduled for completion later this year, this groundbreaking development will feature a stunning nine-story hotel, gaming floor, luxurious rooftop pool, and conference center. Not to mention, two new parking structures to accommodate guests. NorthStar's Civil Engineering and Survey Department has been involved in multiple phases of this project. In the beginning stages, our survey team meticulously mapped the area, laying the groundwork for essential facilities like the central utility plant and wastewater treatment plant. NorthStar also handled grading, site design, and underground utility planning, collaborating closely with the design team ensuring seamless integration of updates throughout the project. Sometimes a day at the office at NorthStar looks a little different! NorthStar had the opportunity to work with the the Golden Trout Wilderness School, a Non-profit Educational Center nestled in the Southern Sierra Nevada. We were tasked with design updates for their water supply and filtration system, which is crucial to their summer operations. This unique project blended work with adventure. 🏕️🌲 Our survey team hiked 3 miles to an elevation of 10,000 ft, bringing personal and survey equipment with the help of pack mules. They stayed at the campsite for 3 days as they gathered data. They performed a topographic and aerial survey of the camp for planning and design updates. They also teamed up with Point Co., a photogrammetry consultant, to capture high-resolution imagery of the area. This project offered an unparalleled opportunity for our team to immerse themselves in the breathtaking beauty of the Sierra Nevada and contribute to wilderness preservation efforts. Partnering with the Golden Trout Wilderness School was deeply meaningful for NorthStar, reflecting our steadfast dedication to enhancing the community. NorthStar has had the privilege to a part of Chico's Oak Valley development—a transformative urban project set to introduce 1,324 new homes. Since 2013, NorthStar has partnered closely with the project owners, under the leadership of Jay Lowe, our Senior Civil Engineer, and Civil Engineering Department Manager. Our involvement utilized both NorthStar’s Civil Engineering and Survey Departments. We provided comprehensive work, overseeing design, planning, and providing crucial construction management services, including the management of a multifamily complex and collaboration with Cal Trans for signal design at the development's main entry. Additionally, we've spearheaded significant infrastructure enhancements, such as a road connection roundabout and reworking a part of Humboldt Road, a prominent road in Chico. We worked on site design and collaborated with Cal Water for permits for a water tank. Despite challenges, our commitment remains steadfast, advocating for the project's success and addressing Chico's housing challenges. This development will have a huge effect on the community and aligns with our mission to enhance the community we love to live and work in! NorthStar is happy to announce that the Butte College Science Building, a project collaboration between JK Architecture Engineering and our NorthStar Civil Engineering department, is well underway in its construction phase. The construction is being led by Modern Building-Clark/Sullivan Construction, in joint efforts from the NorthStar’s Survey department. The Science Building will have: 🔹Cutting-edge planetarium 🔹Eco-friendly facilities 🔹Enhanced classrooms 🔹Interactive study areas Funding for this innovative project is sourced from Measure J, a $190 million bond measure, supplemented by the state's Physical Plant and Instructional Support Block Grant. This project will elevate Butte College's landscape and learning opportunities for students.
